|
HITSP published a 115-page document on its online wiki. The document merges its previous work on information exchange standards with Congress's eight "meaningful use" requirements on EHRs.
Some of the eight requirements include:
- "Technologies that protect the privacy of health information and promote security in a qualified EHR...
- The utilization of a certified EHR for each person in the U.S. by 2014...
- Technologies (such as encryption) to render identifiable patient information “unusable, unreadable or indecipherable” to unauthorized individuals when such data are transmitted on a proposed national health information network.
-
A nationwide health IT infrastructure for the use and exchange of healthcare information."
